Luis Fidel Yáñez P. is a lawyer with a bachelor's degree in legal sciences from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. His postgraduate studies in international relations include a specialized diploma from the Institute of International Studies at the University of Chile.
On 1 July 2011, he was appointed Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Secretary of the Commission of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
In addition, he teaches classes for the master’s degree in management and public policy at the University of Chile; and at the master’s degree in public opinion and the Globalization and Democracy lecture series at Diego Portales University in Santiago, Chile.
His previous positions at ECLAC include Legal Adviser and Political Affairs Officer and he also served as Legal Consultant at the Consumers International Office for Latin America and the Caribbean.
